"In the metaverse world, when you visit a virtual bank, how do you know it is a genuine bank? How do you identify that? As of now, all awareness mechanisms for privacy and identity are built for the real world. In the metaverse world, there will be an avatar and you don’t know what is real. So privacy challenges will be different, and existing controls will not work," Thakkar says.
