Given that budgets and time are finite, how can organizations best identify if their information security strategy is well balanced and appropriate?

"You never know what's good enough, and it's also very subjective and dependent on what is the budget and what is the size of your company, and how often you are prone to attack. So there are a lot of variables before anybody would invest a penny into security," says Nandhini Duraisamy, chief operating officer of Quadron Cybersecurity Services.

In her role with that firm, she draws on her experience of having worked both for customers of security firms and for service providers to help organizations develop and implement a cybersecurity strategy that is appropriate for them.

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group as part of the CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Duraisamy discusses:

  • Essential risk management strategies that she advocates all organizations pursue when defining and delivering on a cybersecurity strategy;
  • How her diverse work experience has shaped her approach to balancing people, process and technology, as well as implementing "zero trust";
  • Her work to involve more girls in STEM, including encouraging businesses in sectors that rely on science, technology, engineering and math to actively educate and recruit them.

Duraisamy is COO of Quadron Cybersecurity Services, based in Budapest, Hungary. She previously served as director of integration and performance improvement for European diagnostic imaging, outpatient and cancer care service provider Affidea, led a team of security incident responders for GE Digital, worked as the IT security and governance manager for Anheuser-Busch InBev's EU operations, and served as an IT service operations and delivery management consultant for Tata Consultancy Services, among other roles.
