"We knew that VPN exposed private IPs, and that was a major reason," said Mergu, vice president of information technology at MarketsandMarkets.
The company's zero trust strategy not only improved security, it also solved bandwidth issues that were affecting seamless VoIP calling.
"I have implemented the microsegmentation technique to segment the network and isolate VoIP traffic from other types of network traffic. This helps prevent unauthorized access and lateral movement within the network," Mergu said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Mergu also discussed:
- The process of shifting from traditional VPNs to zero trust;
- Piloting and selecting zero trust vendors;
- Steps to embracing microsegmentation.
Mergu has 20 years of experience in IT infrastructure in various industries, including food and beverages, manufacturing, media and entertainment, retail, and market research B2B.
