The move to zero trust will address ongoing trends including the need to secure the hybrid workforce, growing multi-cloud environments and the acceleration of digital transformation, the sophistication of cyberattacks and evasive techniques, and the velocity of attacks against the critical infrastructure sectors with the explosion of IoT devices and operational technologies.
While customers are on different parts of the journey, Oswal says, "Every customer I talk to wants to eventually get to a state where they have a zero trust and networks-degree architecture end to end."
To build defenses, he says, "I think you are going to see a majority of the customers adopt zero trust along with authentication, the identity of devices, and access and security on a continuous basis to ensure that they are having a consistent security architecture."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Oswal discusses:
- Key security trends to watch in 2023;
- Increasing the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to counter evasive techniques;
- A platform-centric approach to address vendor sprawl.
Oswal previously served as senior vice president of engineering for Cisco's intent-based networking group. He is highly experienced in building strong, diverse and motivated teams and holds more than 60 U.S. patents.
