Managing IoT Risks: Reinventing Security

Security needs to be reinvented for the internet of things, says Robin Saxby, the former CEO and founder of Arm Holdings, a U.K.-based semiconductor company, who now serves as an "angel investor" for start-up companies.

"For the internet of things, we need to rethink the whole [security] environment." Saxby says in an interview with Information Security Media Group at the recent IoT India Congress in Bangalore. "With the internet of things, you've got the device; you've got wireless; you've got the cloud. So the opportunity for people to break in is huge and the reality is the [security] solution is not there."

Saxby argues that start-up companies can play a critical role in IoT security. "The old solutions do not scale," he contends.

In this interview (see audio link below image), Saxby also discusses:

  • The risks posed by the IoT;
  • The need for a fresh start on cybersecurity;
  • The role start-ups can play;

Saxby is the former CEO and founder of Arm Holdings, a U.K.-based semiconductor company, where he worked for 30 years.
