Alok Gupta of Pyramid Cyber Security and Forensics on the Role of Technology
Insights on Fighting Against Cyberwar

To counter cyberwarfare, the government of India needs to deploy both preventive and predictive technologies, says Alok Gupta, founder and managing director at Pyramid Cyber Security and Forensics.

"It is a continuous process, and government should look at cybersecurity not as a periodic audit or a tick mark to an ISMS [information security management system] but also as continuous monitoring because threats can come from any side - both insiders and outsiders," Gupta says in an interaction with Information Security Media Group.

Gupta suggests that the government create security orchestration centers. "These centers would be an amalgamation of various technologies, such as SIEM, security orchestration platforms, application security, database security and also security configuration management," he says.

In this interview (see audio link below photo), Gupta also discusses:

  • Technologies the government is using to secure critical infrastructure;
  • The security gaps in government infrastructure;
  • Areas where he is collaborating with the government on cybersecurity.

Gupta is founder and managing director at Pyramid Cyber Security and Forensics. He is also co-founder and director of XENSIX, a New York-based data security company. Gupta closely works with the government to help set up forensic labs.
