Infoblox's Jesper Andersen on How to Identify Threats Sooner

Infoblox has invested in shifting left in the cybersecurity kill chain with on-premises, cloud and hybrid versions of its BloxOne Threat Defense tools, which help security practitioners find and identify threats earlier and mitigate risks, says President and CEO Jesper Andersen. A DNS-centric strategy is effective since the first sign of malware being on a network is often a call to the command-and-control center.

The company integrates with customers' existing vulnerability scanners and endpoint protection and intrusion detection tools to notify security operations when an IP address queries the command-and-control center, Andersen says. Infoblox's networking tools give users visibility into the whole chain of DNS queries and the IP addresses that they came from (see: DNS Security: Enhanced Visibility and Security Controls).

"Over the last few years, especially as we have invested more in cybersecurity solutions, we increasingly are also selling into the security function within an organization all the way up to the CISO level," Andersen says. "Increasingly, the people we are spending the most time talking to are the leaders of the security operations center."

In this audio interview with Information Security Media Group, Andersen also discusses:

  • How the needs of networking and security buyers differ;
  • What sets Infoblox apart from other network security firms;
  • The most significant priorities for CISOs heading into 2023.

Andersen drives Infoblox's technology strategy and excellence in the way the company builds, sells and deploys its products and solutions for customers. Infoblox's products serve more than 13,000 worldwide customers by controlling, securing and automating their critical infrastructure and networks. Prior to joining Infoblox in December 2014, Andersen served in a number of roles at Cisco Systems, including senior vice president for network management. He previously held senior management positions at Oracle, PeopleSoft, Pivotal Software and Computer Resources International.
