Behavioral Biometrics: Avoiding Mistakes

Making the Right Moves When Implementing the Technology
Behavioral Biometrics: Avoiding Mistakes

Too many companies that are implementing behavioral biometrics to combat fraud lack a complete understanding of how to make the most of the technology, says David Lacey, managing director at IDCARE, Australia and New Zealand's not-for-profit national identity and cyber support service.

"Behavioral biometrics works really well around occupational fraud," Lacey says in an interview with Information Security Media Group. "Organizations need to ask what does this technology offer us and map it with how you are doing business and see the business context. They need to understand if the benefit outweighs the cost."

In this interview (see audio link below photo), Lacey also discusses:

  • Factors to consider when deploying behavioral biometrics;
  • Why some companies are not getting the desired results from behavioral biometrics deployments;
  • How fraud and cybersecurity teams can work together.

Lacey is founder and managing director of IDCARE. He has held senior executive roles across the Australian government and in industry, focusing on identity and cybersecurity, law enforcement and national security.
