These appliances, based on fourth-generation Intel Core processors, deliver up to four times the speed of the previous UTM generation appliances, Sophos says.

The new SG Series includes models to meet the requirements of small offices to large, distributed enterprises. They all deliver more than 10 Gbit/sec firewall throughput to handle the demands of multi-layered protection. The SG Series utilizes Intel technologies, including high-speed LAN interfaces, high volume solid state drives and AES-NI acceleration.

McAfee Releases Heartbleed Tool
McAfee, part of Intel Security, is offering a free tool to help consumers gauge their susceptibility to the potentially dangerous effects of the Heartbleed Bug.
By entering website domain names into the Heartbleed Checker tool, consumers can immediately determine if the websites they visit have been affected by Heartbleed by checking whether the sites have been upgraded to the version of OpenSSL that is not susceptible to the bug.

Tripwire Donates Cybersecurity Service
Tripwire Inc. has donated a cloud-based risk and analytics cybersecurity service to the Center for Cyber Security, Information Privacy and Trust at Penn State's College of Information Sciences and Technology. The grant provides a license to Tripwire Benchmark, a cloud-based risk and analytics cybersecurity service. Penn State has valued the technology at $11.75 million.
Tripwire says it selected Penn State for this donation to further the education of future cybersecurity leaders as well as develop a community of experts who share information and analytics. The free service will help address the economic and national security issues presented by cybersecurity risks.

Nuance Announces Healthcare Network
Nuance Communications announces the availability of Nuance PowerShare Network, a cloud-based network for securely connecting physicians, patients, government agencies, specialty medical societies and others to share medical images and reports.
The network enables physicians to instantly view and share images and data and collaborate. Made possible through the acquisition of Accelarad, this medical imaging exchange eliminates the insecure process of managing images on CDs, the company says. The network is already used by more than 500,000 clinicians.
