Jim Masella
Managing Principal, FedRAMP / NIST Advisory Services, Coalfire
Jim is the Managing Principal of the FedRAMP Advisory practice at Coalfire, the largest FedRAMP third-party assessment organization (3PAO). He is responsible for leading a team of cloud security experts and providing executive oversight on all security consulting engagements for private sector firms seeking to provide secure cloud services to federal, state and local governments. Jim’s focus is on business development, operations strategy, and ensuring project delivery exceeds client expectations. Jim has been with Coalfire since 2015 and has over 15 years of IT security experience. His clients have included many of the world’s largest tech firms and numerous federal agencies to include the DoD and VA. Previously a DoD contractor, Jim was a cybersecurity instructor and the program manager of the Army’s Cyber Leader College information assurance (IA) training program at Fort Gordon. In 2010, he was recognized for his leadership and innovation by the Chief of Signal for his work on the IA program. In 2016, he received the Employee Excellence Award for Extraordinary Service and Dedication from the Veris Group (now Coalfire) for his private and public sector cybersecurity consulting work. A decorated Army Veteran, Jim retired from the National Guard in 2021 as a Cyberspace Operations Officer (17A). Jim is married, a father of two adult sons, and now resides in the DC Metro area.
