AI Risk Frameworks Must Focus on Talent, Not Just Technology
ISACA Singapore's Jenny Tan on Adapting Risk Strategies for the AI EraAs artificial intelligence reshapes enterprise operations, organizations face a critical challenge: While their existing technology risk frameworks remain robust, their approach to human capital management requires significant transformation, said Jenny Tan, president of the ISACA Singapore Chapter.
The focus needs to shift from purely technical considerations to building AI-ready teams. But this talent gap has emerged as a key vulnerability in AI implementation strategies, and enterprises that prioritize technological solutions without corresponding investments in workforce development risk creating security blind spots in AI deployments.
"The part of the risk framework that organizations have to relook at is AI-driven and impacted areas - it's more about talent, workforce resourcing. These are the risks that could have been brought on by the AI technology itself, and not the actual technical technology portion of it," Tan said.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at the GovWare Conference and Exhibition 2024, Tan also discussed:
- The relationship between AI governance and innovation in cybersecurity;
- The evolution of security-by-design principles in sensitive sectors;
- How internal auditors' roles are changing with AI-driven decision-making.
Tan leads initiatives to enhance cybersecurity standards and promote professional development. With over two decades of experience in internal audit and risk management, she specializes in technology risk governance and drives community engagement to empower future leaders in the tech industry.
