"You have to know your data. You cannot even figure out the extent of a ransomware event if you don't know what data you have, where it is," and the sensitivity of the information that is affected, she says. "The whole premise about privacy is trust. Organizations need to be able to communicate to their customers that they can be trusted with their data."
